Naturalized player Ivar Jenner aims for debut against Lionel Messi et al

WARTAKOTALIVE.COM, JAKARTA–Ivar Jenner admits that he can’t wait to officially wear the Indonesian National Team uniform.

The player of Dutch descent who has just been legally declared an Indonesian citizen (WNI) is included in the list of players prepared to play the FIFA Matchday against the Palestinian National Team and the Argentine National Team.

Indonesian National Team coach Shin Tae-yong summoned 26 players, including Ivar Jenner, to face the two matches.

According to the schedule, the Garuda squad will face the Palestinian national team on June 14 2023 at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium in Surabaya.

Five days later, Indonesia had the opportunity to face Lionel Messi et al at the Bung Karno Main Stadium.

Ivar Jenner hopes to get the chance to make his debut with the national team against Palestine or Argentina.

“I feel good, it’s my first time joining the national team. My first impression here was very good and I met a new team,” said the 19-year-old.

“I hope to get the opportunity to compete against Palestine and Argentina,” he added as reported by Kompas.com.

Ivar Jenner is one of two naturalized players who immediately received Shin Tae-yong’s call to strengthen the Indonesian national team.

Apart from Ivar Jenner, there is the name Rafael Struick who was also called up to defend the Indonesian national team.

Not only comfortable with the Indonesian national team squad, Ivar Jenner admits that there are no problems with adaptation because he has communicated with two of his teammates who are also alumni of the Dutch club, FC Utrecht.

The two players were Marc Klok and Stefano Lilipaly who told them a lot about Indonesian football.

As is well known, the three players were both educated by the FC Utrecht academy, namely Jong Utrecht, even though they are of different generations.
