Natural gas has again flowed into Latvia from Russia – Industry – Financenet – TVNET

On Tuesday, the amount of power actually used in Luhama for entry from Russia reached 49.5 gigawatt hours (GWh).

As the representative of “Conexus” Dace Baltābola explained to the agency LETA, natural gas currently enters the single market area through the point in Luhama. Natural gas can be purchased by any of the users of the system – both from Latvia and other countries.

Baltabola points out that the gas is currently entering the single market area, and it can be transported to Finland, Estonia or Lithuania. This is not gas transit, added the representative of “Conexus”.

It has already been reported that on the morning of Saturday, July 30, the Russian gas concern “Gazprom” stopped exporting gas to Latvia “in connection with a violation of the conditions for taking gas”, the Russian news agency “RIA Novosti” reported.

“Gazprom announced that on Saturday it stopped gas supplies to Latvia within the framework of the July application in connection with the violation of the conditions for taking gas,” the agency said on the messaging platform “Telegram”.

“Conexus” confirmed that it has received information from the Russian gas concern “Gazprom” about the suspension of natural gas deliveries to Latvia in July.

As representatives of “Conexus” told the LETA agency, “Conexus” company did not count on natural gas supplies from Russia in its calculations.

After Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, gas flows from Russia to Latvia were interrupted and stopped several times. Gas flows from Russia increased since mid-June.
