NATO’s top military official today called on Western public and private defense actors to change their mindset by shifting their focus from effectiveness to efficiency in their actions to survive in an age where anything can happen at any time, reported Reuters and BTA.
“We need a transformation of NATO’s combat readiness,” said Dutch Admiral Rob Bauer, head of the alliance’s Military Committee, in an address to NATO defense chiefs during a meeting in the Belgian capital Brussels.
In the past, state and private actors on the international stage lived in a time where everything was abundant, predictable and controllable, and focused on efficiency,” he noted.
“Currently, however, we are at a stage where we must prepare for the unexpected and focus on efficiency to be successful,” Bauer added.
