Braze noted that NATO as an organization does not provide Ukraine with military aid, but, for example, medical equipment, drones, anti-drone equipment and various other things.
According to Braže, the summit will also discuss political relations between Ukraine and NATO members. The countries are expected to meet for the first time as equal members of the NATO-Ukraine Council. This means that it will no longer be necessary to act as before, when all NATO member states, when they want to meet representatives of Ukraine, must notify about the meeting of the commission.
Also, Ukraine will be able to convene meetings of the NATO-Ukraine Council on an equal basis, to choose issues to be discussed and consulted on. According to the Deputy Secretary General of NATO, it will be a very good improvement of relations. Also, until the last moment of the summit, the discussion on Ukraine’s NATO membership perspective will continue.
“NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has emphasized that Ukraine’s place is in NATO, however, the NATO summit in Vilnius will not decide on Ukraine’s admission. The agenda will include the question of how to formulate the perspective of membership and what steps are necessary for it. Negotiations are still ongoing,” said Braze.
