BEIJINGChina believes NATO should be dissolved after the Soviet Union ceased to exist. The statement was made by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) on Friday (1/4/2022).

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian lamented the fact that the US-led military bloc was actually expanding and cornering Russia, finally triggering the current bloodbath in Ukraine.

“As a product of the Cold War, NATO should be history when the Soviet Union disbanded,” he said during a daily press conference on Friday, when asked about NATO’s role as a US geopolitical tool by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.
