OSLO NATO has gathered 30,000 soldiers near the border Russia for war training in the midst of battle Russia-Ukraine . More than 200 aircraft and 50 warships have also been sent to northern Norway, just a few hundred kilometers from the Russian border.

War exercises, called Cold Response, are held every two years. According to NATO, the war exercise was ‘unrelated to Russia’s unreasonable and unjustifiable invasion of Ukraine’.

NATO also said the joint drills had been planned long before Vladimir Putin sent his troops to attack Ukraine – although officials have noted “increasing significance”.

“This exercise is very important for the security of Norway and its allies. “We will train for the strengthening of Norway’s allies,” said Norwegian Minister of Defense Odd Roger Enoksen, as quoted from Metro.co.uk, Tuesday (15/3/2022).

“It was not held because of the attack by the Russian authorities in Ukraine, but given the background, it is of increasing significance,” he continued.

Russia has refused to observe the drills, which bring together troops from 27 countries from Europe and North America. According to the Norwegian Armed Forces, tens of thousands of troops will train to cooperate on land, in the air and at sea until April 1.

“Complete information has been provided to Russia. Something important to prevent misunderstandings and unnecessary conflicts,” a NATO statement added.
