NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Tuesday confirmed reports that the countries of the alliance decided to extend his term for another year, until October 2024.
“I am honored that NATO allies have decided to extend my powers as Secretary General until October 1, 2024,” Stoltenberg wrote on social networks.
Earlier it was reported that the governments of 31 NATO member countries reached an agreement on the issue of retaining Jens Stoltenberg as NATO Secretary General until the summer of 2024. Stoltenberg’s contract with NATO expires on October 1, 2023. He stated that he had no plans to continue working in this post, he was not going to seek an extension of the contract.
