NATO Says World Will Not Recognize Taliban If Takes Over Afghanistan By Force

BRUSSELSNATO confirms that the world will not recognize Taliban if they take Afghanistan by force. The statement was made by the Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg.

Stoltenberg said the Taliban must realize that the world will only recognize them, if they can “control” Afghanistan through legitimate political channels.

“The Taliban need to understand that they will not be recognized by the international community if they take the country by force. We remain committed to supporting a political solution to the conflict,” Stoltenberg said.

“NATO allies are deeply concerned by the high level of violence caused by Taliban attacks, including attacks on civilians, targeted killings and other reports of serious human rights violations,” he said.

“Our goal remains to support the Afghan government and security forces as much as possible. The security of our personnel is paramount. NATO will maintain our diplomatic presence in Kabul, and continue to adjust as necessary,” Stoltenberg said.
