Secretary General of the Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Mark Rutte, has confirmed that thousands of soldiers North Korea currently in Russia.
The North Korean troops are currently in Kursk, the main area of conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

Reporting from The Korea TimesRutte said his party could now confirm that North Korean troops had been sent into Russia as reported by South Korea.
“Today I can confirm that North Korean troops have been sent to Russia and that their military units have been sent to the Kursk region,” Rutte told reporters after a high-level delegation briefing -level from South Korea.
Rutte said that Pyongyang’s deployment marked a significant increase in North Korea’s involvement in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
“Increasingly strong military cooperation between Russia and North Korea is a threat to Indo-Pacific and Euro-Atlantic security,” said Rutte.
Ukraine previously said North Korean troops had been sent to the Kursk border crossing in western Russia.
Ukraine’s claim was also supported by South Korea’s intelligence agency which found that around 1,500 North Korean special forces had arrived in Russia. Intelligence from South Korea suspects that the soldiers were sent to fight in Ukraine.
South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol also spoke with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on Monday (21/10) to express his concerns about this issue. Yoon urged NATO to take “concrete steps” on the issue.
Rutte has emphasized that NATO is ready to cooperate with South Korea. He expressed deep concern about South Korea’s claims and asked Seoul to “send a delegation to NATO for more detailed information.” “
The visit of the South Korean delegation on Monday (28/10) also followed Rutte’s request.
In addition to NATO, the United States has also confirmed that at least 3,000 North Korean troops are currently in Russia.
