NATO members condemned Russia’s new invasion of Ukraine, called on the Kremlin regime to end hostilities and announced the deployment of additional forces in the eastern part of the Alliance. This was reported on the NATO website.

“We are deploying additional defensive ground and air forces in the eastern part of the Alliance, as well as additional maritime assets. We have increased the readiness of our forces to respond to all unforeseen circumstances,” the statement said.
NATO stressed that, together with allies and partners, they made every effort to establish a dialogue with Russia. The invasion of Ukraine showed that “only Russia chose the path of escalation.”
The actions of the Kremlin regime, the report emphasizes, “a serious threat to Euro-Atlantic security and will have geostrategic consequences.”
The Alliance assured that they will continue to take all necessary measures to ensure the security and defense of all allies.
Today Lithuania together with Poland, Latvia and Estonia initiated consultations under Article 4 of NATO because of the threat to the security of allies. This clause of the Alliance agreement provides for consultations when the territorial integrity, political independence or security of any of the allies is threatened.
