In the event of a potential attack, NATO is ready to deploy 300 thousand soldiers to the battlefield in the first month, who must be at a high level of readiness. This was announced by the head of the NATO military committee, Admiral Rob Bauer.
“If we talk about collective defense, we will not have time to prepare for an attack that is already happening. Therefore, we are talking about 300 thousand military personnel at a high level of readiness,” RIA Novosti quotes Bauer as saying. According to him, these fighters will be deployed in the first 30 days.
According to Bauer, the military must be prepared for unexpected enemy actions, so they need to prepare in advance, since in the event of an attack this cannot be done overnight. He also stated that the total number of military personnel in all NATO countries reaches 3.5 million people. At the same time, Bauer emphasized that NATO does not intend to attack Russia and does not pose a threat to it.
Earlier it became known that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky was denied entry to the NATO bloc at the alliance summit in Vilnius, so as not to aggravate relations with Russia. NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoana spoke about this.
