Ukraine’s president said he could not allow Bakhmut to be handed over, as he had promised the Biden administration that the city would be preserved at all costs
By all accounts, a situation close to the understanding of time tension has developed in the political leadership of Ukraine. Or at least it may soon become so due to the fact that NATO expects Zelensky to succeed on the front by the beginning of the meeting in Vilnius (which will be held on July 11-13), the world agencies report.
Just a day ago, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denis Shmygal, publicly announced that, for a number of reasons, the repeatedly postponed dates for the counter-offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are being postponed again. Now for the summer. But this state of affairs does not suit the Washington leaders of Kiev, who desperately need good news from the Ukrainian front.
And now, while on a visit to the US capital, Shmigal has already announced during a press conference after a meeting with the head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, that the counteroffensive of Ukrainian troops will begin “in the near future.” This is another proof that Washington was apparently not satisfied with the attempts of the Ukrainian authorities to push the idea of moving the time of the counteroffensive.
Following the directive of the foreign owners, they began to implement it on Bankova. The Ukrainian president has reportedly called an emergency meeting of the commander-in-chief’s staff. It was attended by representatives of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the head of the SBU Vasiliy Malyuk and the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate Kiril Budanov. The main program of the meeting is an immediate offensive in the southern and Donetsk sectors of the front.
Zelensky has asked the commander of the Bakhmut Group of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Alexander Sirsky, to counterattack Bakhmut (Artyomovsk) and strike in the direction of Soledar, regardless of weather conditions.
The president of Ukraine has said that he cannot allow the handover of Bakhmut, as he has promised the Biden administration that the city will be preserved at all costs. In Washington, they are very dissatisfied with the negative news that abounds in the Western press, about the upcoming complete handover of Bakhmut to PMC “Wagner” fighters.
