As stated today by the Belgian Foreign Minister, Hadja LahbibStoltenberg’s proposal includes creating a fund for Ukraine with 100 billion euros over five years.
“I cannot go into the details of the proposals”he indicated, but stressed that they are going to develop “a more robust and durable institutional framework to support Ukraine.”
Currently, the coordination of international military aid for Ukraine is centralized by the United States with a group of fifty countries, known as “Rammstein group”.
“We are now discussing how we can establish a more robust and institutional NATO framework around this” and to make aid “more predictable over the long term and also to ensure fair burden sharing.”
He hoped that, now that the allies have begun to discuss planning, there could be a decision on the matter at the summit of NATO leaders in July in Washington.
Stoltenberg refused to answer whether the implementation of this initiative shields the support of allies in the event that Trump wins the presidential elections in the United States in November, but the Republican has already assured that he will not maintain financing for kyiv if he is elected.
