NATO Plans Biggest Force Deployment Since Cold War

NATO is ready to turn eastern Europe into a fort with thousands of troops and lots of equipment. Thus, the alliance plans to be ready in case of aggression against any member state.

The summit in Madrid will take place from 28 to 30 June. According to sources of the publication, some countries want to move from the current presence in the east of the alliance, which consists of combat groups, to brigades. Today, the formations number up to 1.6 thousand soldiers, and their transformation into brigades will double the number.

Some allies insist on placing divisions under the command of generals. This, for its part, implies up to 15,000 troops.

During the summit in Madrid, a new strategic concept for the alliance could be approved, putting an end to ties with the Kremlin. At the same time, Russia will be labeled as a direct threat.
