NATO may not respond quickly to a Russian attack

But in practice, this is hampered by long and fragmented administrative processes that are not designed to move equipment across infrastructure and lack of transport capabilities.

The general also recalled that at the beginning of 2022, Europe really understood how difficult the process of transferring equipment could be.

“We found out the amount of administrative red tape. There is a war in Ukraine, but customs officials explain that you do not have the required tonnage for each axle and that your tanks are not allowed to cross the border Germany,” he said.

The Russian threat to NATO

After Russia launched a full-scale attack on Ukraine, NATO began to think about the Russian threat to the Alliance.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius also said that Russia could attack one of the NATO countries as early as 2029.
