From the United States, 2,000 Air National Guard soldiers and approximately 100 aircraft will participate in the maneuvers.
“These maneuvers will be absolutely spectacular to anyone who watches them, and we’re not forcing anyone to watch them,” said US Ambassador to Germany Amy Gutman.
“They will undoubtedly demonstrate the strength in NATO and the speed of our NATO allies,” she added.
“I would be quite surprised if any world leader didn’t take into account what they show in terms of the spirit of this alliance, which means the strength of this alliance,” Gutman said.
“And that goes for Mr. Putin as well,” she added.
Although the exercises have been planned since 2018, Russia’s repeated invasion of Ukraine last year has prompted NATO to seriously prepare for a possible attack on its territory. Sweden, which hopes to join the alliance, and Japan will also take part in the exercise.
