NATO Holds First Major Naval Exercise in the Baltic Sea to Strengthen Combat Coordination Against Russia

NATO will hold a major naval exercise in the Baltic Sea for the first time. They are aimed at combat coordination in case of war with Russia in this region. This was announced by the commander of the Navy (Navy) of Germany, Vice Admiral Jan Christian Kaak.

“We are sending a clear signal of vigilance to Russia. Strong deterrence must include the ability to attack,” commented Jan Christian Kaak on NATO’s decision to conduct military exercises in the Baltic Sea. His words convey Reuters.

According to the agency, the exercises, which will begin on September 9, will be the first in the Baltic Sea. They will be attended by 30 ships and military personnel from all NATO countries, as well as Sweden. The US will send the USS Mesa Verde to transport and disembark about 800 Marines, Kaak said. Combat coordination will take place off the coast of Latvia and Estonia. Exercise “North Coast” will last two weeks.

Finland’s accession to NATO, which took place on April 4, greatly changed the balance of power in the Baltic Sea. RT. Sweden sent an application to join the alliance.
