Yesterday’s meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Commission (organized hastily and therefore called “virtual”) discussed what is discussed there regularly. How to increase military aid to Ukraine so that it defeats Russia, and the Western coalition itself has nothing against it.
As a few months ago, in an accelerated logistics mode, the delivery of air defense systems (one “Patriot” has already been clicked), armored personnel carriers, tanks (from “Leopards” to light wheeled), self-propelled howitzers – and now finally, F -16. And who, how and when will learn to fly with them. And it is also important who will teach. But as important as flying skills are (it’s not months, but years), creating all the necessary ground infrastructure with exactly the same carefully and long-trained personnel is even more important. We will not even talk about such “trifles” as the continuous supply of fuel, the constant prevention and the preparation of the missions. This is a separate mission for no less separately and specially trained (also long and carefully) people.
Science, today and absolutely modern, has not learned how to accelerate the formation of an embryo and the birth of a person. Military science, no less modern, also does not know how to accelerate the training of even experienced air combat aces so that they fly fighters of a new type for them without problems, feeling the machine with their body.
Rhetorical questions: who will sit at the helm of the F-16, the delivery of which has already been approved in principle? And who will perform the pre-flight and post-flight prevention?
The next question, but no longer rhetorical: what kind of plane is this? The magazine “Military Watch”, which is not considered sympathetic to our country, but maintains, as far as possible today, objectivity in reviews of military equipment, writes the following about the F-16: “A light single-engine fighter developed in the 1970s as a lighter and cheaper analogue of the heavy F-15, which at that time was the elite of the US Air Force. In the conditions of clashes with the Russian Air Force, it is very likely that fighters of this class will demonstrate rather low endurance due to the lack of stealth technology, as well as due to the limited ability to destroy high-class Russian heavy aircraft such as the Su-35, MiG-31 and Su- 57.”
In fact, this is the answer to the question of why fighter jets will be delivered to Ukraine not directly from the Pentagon and the US military-industrial complex, but from US allies. Image is as important in the arms trade as it is in the luxury goods trade. Destroyed F-16s are like a sock sticking out of the poorly taped seams of expensive men’s loafers. It’s about prestige.
But if something somewhere decreases, then something somewhere increases.

The fact that the story with the supplies “from the Allies and the training of pilots from the VSU” is somewhat reminiscent of a psychological attack aimed primarily at those who are still convinced of the “absolute invincibility of troops, equipment, logistics” and the strength of the member countries of NATO. And for those who started a confrontation with Russia, if the lessons of history, geography, bookshelves full of Russian military skills do not help them, then, apparently, the only way out is to flood the geopolitical crisis with money, to hold “virtual meetings of the army elite ” and wait for the disposal of their own military equipment in the SVO region. Since the battle is ordered, then in principle we can not worry about the execution of this order with the result we need. After all. Russia has more than once took long and complicated routes. And if the “Ramstein virtuosos” realize this sooner, the better for us.
