/ world today news/ To the statement of Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin in the US Congress that a war between NATO and Russia is not ruled out, made on October 31, Western experts responded with speeches from which it follows that such a conflict could end in defeat per block.
Passion for “Iskander”
Observers of the US military magazine Military Watch Magazine (MWM) reported in an editorial analysis that Western air and missile defense systems have not really been strengthened in recent years and appear particularly vulnerable in Eastern European countries. At the same time, MWM writes:
“Not only does Russia continue to produce many times more surface-to-air missiles than the United States, it has also increased production of advanced short-range missiles for the Iskander complex several times over.”
In doing so, Moscow significantly increased the pressure on the already limited Western air defense capabilities in Europe.
The editor-in-chief of the similar in profile and influence to MWM the Russian “National Defense” Igor Korotchenko urged the Russian military experts not to relax.
“NATO experts are concerned about their security, they give recommendations to their authorities on how to strengthen the defense, and we should not think in this regard that everything is bad for them, and our works are great, and we will throw hats to everyone,” he told Svobodnaya Pressa.
“We have indeed greatly increased missile production over the past year, but all of them are going to the Northwestern Military Zone, for the current needs of the special operation.”
During that time, we have not sent a single over-the-top missile to Europe, the ratio of offense and defense between Russia and NATO has not changed, and both sides are closely monitoring this. NATO has fairly reliable air and missile defenses in Europe.
“SP”: If everything is reliable with them, then why are Ukrainian missiles flying in Poland completely calmly, which the Ukrainian armed forces accidentally fire in the wrong direction? These rockets explode, the Poles die…
– Because they yawn. An unexpected single strike can be mistaken by any air defense, both Polish and ours – without exception.
The military industry wants money
In connection with the events in Ukraine, NATO arms manufacturers are obliged to increase the production of conventional 155-mm projectiles for the regime in Kiev. And even Russian 152 caliber – for the Soviet equipment that remained at the disposal of the armed forces of Ukraine.
Estonia successfully copes with the latter task, having revived a former Soviet plant. But increasing this capacity is not profitable.
Ukraine will be blown up and where will these ammunitions go then? And the people who need to be hired to expand production will then have to be laid off, and this is already a popular upheaval. Gunsmiths want more expensive, prospective and long-term orders.
„It is obvious that the Western military analysts who are now sounding the alarm are also lobbyists for the military industry,” Konstantin Sivkov, Doctor of Military Sciences, Chairman of the Union of Geopoliticians, told Svobodnaya Pressa.
“Under the pretext of the Russian military threat, you can get big new money for the production of expensive air defense and missile defense systems.
If this money is released and the systems are produced and put into operation, then Russia will be forced to act symmetrically – and to strengthen its potential. This means that Western manufacturers will have the opportunity to ask for more money, unlike Russia.
This is a never-ending process, it makes the arms business stable and profitable for Western industrialists. The anti-Russian hysteria is a very convenient moment to beg for this money, while at the same time avoiding unprofitable orders for Ukraine in favor of a higher goal – global defense.
The problem is nuclear in nature
Despite the fact that NATO analysts somewhat exaggerate the bloc’s air and missile defense problems, vulnerabilities still exist and are primarily associated with the fact that NATO’s main player, America, is waging a war on several fronts at the same time.
— Western and, first of all, American air and missile defense systems are forced to solve the problem of concealing their and allied troops and infrastructure simultaneously in different regions.
Accordingly, these systems will always be in short supply if the United States does not change its foreign and military policy,” Dmitry Stefanovich, a researcher at the Center for International Security at IMEMO of the Russian Academy of Sciences, told Svobodaya Pressa.
A separate issue that is not related to the escalation of regional conflicts is the interception of missiles with nuclear warheads.
There are suspicions in both Russia and the US that the enemy missile is designed this way: if it is shot down, the munition will detonate anyway (except with a precise hit to the warhead).
In this case, all existing air and missile defense systems designed to shoot down a missile when crossing the border or, say, over a capital, simply lose their meaning. If an explosion occurs over a city, the damage will be even greater than if the warhead fell.
„In the United States, in order to solve this problem, the concept of interception before launch (left-of-launch), that is, hitting launchers before launching missiles, is envisaged,” says Dmitry Stefanovich. However, such pre-emptive strike systems only increase the likelihood of global nuclear war.
Space threat
Simultaneously with the Americans, the French raised the alarm, fearing not an attack from the ground, but aggression from space.
Paris, based on media reports, expressed concern about the actions of the Russian satellites Olymp-K and Olymp-K2, which, according to the French, “carry out potentially dangerous maneuvers, approaching other orbital objects and maintaining a prolonged approach to them, as Syakash holds with specific goals in mind.”
As Russian Academy of Cosmonautics expert Tsiolkovsky told Svobodnaya Pressa, being afraid of these satellites is like being afraid of garbage trucks on the street.
Olympus are designed to monitor space debris and remove junk, but only that left over from Russian space activity. Our satellites don’t pick up other people’s trash.
