Regarding the recent incident, when Russia once again subjected Ukraine to a massive missile fire and a missile landed on Polish territory six kilometers from the Ukrainian border, killing two people, Rinkevich said the incident is still under investigation, so no new information yet.
At the same time, it is clear that if there had been no Russian invasion of Ukraine, such an incident would not have happened.
He stressed that this is another confirmation that NATO countries, especially those bordering Ukraine, should think about additional air defense.
Furthermore, Rinkēvičs stressed that the issue of anti-aircraft defense was also raised in the draft of the future government statement: additional funds were allocated for this purpose.
It was reported that initially there were reports that one of the rockets fired by the Russians had fallen in Poland.
However, Western countries and NATO later admitted that it was a Ukrainian anti-aircraft missile launched in response to attacks by the Russian army.
At the same time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky insists it was a Russian missile, although he admits he’s not entirely sure what happened.
