condemn Born Strongly planned “NATO” referendums in some Ukrainian regions under Russian control.
“We strongly condemn the so-called referendums” that separatists intend to organize in Ukraine to join Russia, the alliance said in a statement Thursday. He added: “The Allies do not have and will never recognize the illegal annexation of RussiaCrimea“.
“The false referendums in the Ukrainian regions of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporozhye and Kherson have no legitimacy and would be a flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter”, the statement read.
He stressed that NATO allies would not recognize the “illegitimate and illegitimate” annexation (of those areas). He stressed that “these Russian decisions, including partial military mobilization, have further intensified the war”. “We continue to reject the irresponsible Russian nuclear rhetoric,” she added.
The declaration affirmed the alliance’s political and practical support for Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and right to self-defense.
On Tuesday, representatives of the Russian-backed Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporizhia regions announced their intention to hold referendums to join Russia in the coming days.
Moscow, in turn, welcomed the move, while Kiev accused Russia of waging a hybrid war to annex Ukraine.
Referendums on joining Russia are scheduled for Friday through Tuesday in many of the largely Russian-controlled regions in eastern and southern Ukraine, which make up about 15% of the country’s territory.
