But Russia is not a weak country. There is a decisive attack that has been prepared to retaliate against any NATO attack.
Earlier this December, Russian President Vladimir Putin floated the idea of a comprehensive and legally binding security deal with the West.
The proposal has materialized in two draft documents, one for the US and another for NATO as a whole.
Putin’s proposed agreement envisages a halt to NATO’s eastward expansion and contains guarantees for the non-deployment of certain weapons systems in Europe.
“The draft agreement is designed to serve Russia and NATO,” Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin said, as reported by Russia Today, Tuesday (12/28/2021).
Formin hopes the bloc will get ready to discuss security proposals constructively.
“We believe that this agreement has been developed in the interests of Russia and Europe as a whole. We look forward to serious and constructive conversations,” he told foreign diplomats.
“We are waiting for the alliance to give a substantive reaction to our proposal and are ready to start negotiations at the right time.”
For a while, Moscow intelligence picked up signals of NATO aggression against Russia.
