New Delhi: In view of the growing number of Covid cases in various countries, the Union Health Ministry has instructed states to conduct mock drills in health centers across India. The simulated exercise will be held on 27 December. Union health secretary Rajesh Bhushan said in a letter sent to state health secretaries that the results were expected to be uploaded that evening.

The mock drill is underway to prepare health centers in all states to deal with the situation in the event of an increase in Covid cases. This will ensure the facilities of all health centers at the district level. The center also ordered that health department employees be supervised by district collectors and not conduct the mock drill.

It will verify the availability of total isolation wards, intensive care and ventilation facilities in each state. Ensure doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers needed to deal with covid friendliness, covid testing centres, medicines, masks and PPE. The mock exercise also aims to ensure the availability of medical kits and oxygen.
