Dream goal to equalize in the 66th minute

MILAN. Was that Karim Benzema’s masterpiece for the Ballon d’Or? The 33-year-old Madrilene saved France again!

After he made the connection and the final offensive in the semifinals against Belgium (3-2), he was there to equalize in the final against Spain. In the final in Milan, the Spaniards suddenly believed themselves to be the winners after 64 minutes, but only two turns of the pointer after Mikel Oyarzabal’s opening goal grabbed Real Madrid’s superstar a “Golazo” from the corner of the box. After Benzema, Kylian Mbappé also met in the 80th minute, so that Sunday evening was perfect from a royal point of view – after all, the future strike duo of the Blancos met. Final result: 2: 1. Player of the game: Karim Benzema.

Ballon d’Or now possible?

In the Spaniards, as recently, no Madrilene was nominated, so that Madridismo can look forward to another title, even if the French are “only” Benzema as an active Madrilene. And maybe the center forward will soon be able to raise another trophy – his first individual one. Because with the Nations League title he should now be rated on par with Lionel Messi and Jorginho, even if they won silver with both the club and the national team – Benzema only with the “Equipe”. Is that really enough for a world footballer award? In purely sporting terms, Benzema is likely to have put everyone in the shade this calendar year, but “only” one title has to be enough.

“I dream of winning the Ballon d’Or from an early age”, he recently revealed to the AS and added: “Of course I will do everything possible and do my best to win this great trophy one day and make this childhood dream come true.” His dream is now closer than ever!
