The Legislative Assembly of El Salvador decided this Monday to grant nationality to Bulgarian Rumen Rashev, director of the National Ballet.
By decision of the forum, from now on Rashev, a prominent dancer worldwide, will be Salvadoran by naturalization.
With 75 votes, the Assembly approved the nationalization of Rumen, who was born in Bulgaria on January 20, 1957, began his studies in classical dance at the State Ballet School of his country, received a scholarship in the “Vaganova” methodology in Saint Petersburg, Russia, and has been part of different ballet companies around the world.
The request was presented by representative Suecy Callejas, from Nuevas Ideas, who assured that she was requesting nationalization due to the teacher’s outstanding career in classical dance in El Salvador.
He also noted that the country decided to open the opportunity to dancers from other countries such as Ecuador, Venezuela, Colombia, Nicaragua and Cuba.
