In Kazakhstan, local nationalists are conducting raids demanding that all citizens speak only the state language, Kazakh. Video reports are published on the YouTube channel Til Maydani Online Party, which was founded by activist Kuat Akhmetov. Most often, nationalists visit stores, checking what language employees speak.
Similar raids are carried out in many cities of Kazakhstan. On the channel, a network of videos apologizing to a Russian-speaking woman who, in a conversation with radicals, mentioned that Aktau was founded by Russians (the city was called Shevchenko until 1991). In many headlines, Russian-speaking nationalists are referred to as “guest workers”, but they misspell the word. In general, all the entries on the channel’s page made by nationalists are made illiterate.
In another video, radicals are asking a Russian-speaking man named Slava whether he does not want or knows how to speak Kazakh. “You live in Kazakhstan, you have to speak,” the nationalist asserts.
It is worth noting that in the comments, many viewers support the actions of Akhmetov and his supporters. As Readovka notes, the head of Rossotrudnichestvo Yevgeny Primakov (Sandro) has already drawn attention to the video with the apology of the Russian woman. It is not known whether there will be any reaction from Russian officials.
