All phones will receive a message, which will say “This is a test of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is necessary”. A text sent in English or Spanish, depending on the phone settings. And the authorities (FEMA) specify that “the text will be accompanied by a unique tone and vibration intended to make the alert accessible to the entire public, including people with disabilities.”
Smartphones that therefore resonate, except in three cases, specifies the site: if the phone is turned off, in airplane mode or associated with a cell phone tower.
Authorities have clarified that the test will under no circumstances be used to monitor, locate or lock phones. And no data will be collected.
