The National Theater Company will present “Memories of April”, premiere 2021 of the CNT, Admission is free, thanks to the Directorate General of Fine Arts, Ministry of Culture and the CNTRD.
The premiere is from 23 to 25 of this month of April, in the Sala Manuel Rueda, on Friday at 6:30 pm. Saturday and Sunday 4:30 pm.
The theater piece, which selects (4) stories by Iván García published in the book of the same name, is presented under the direction of Fausto Rojas, with stellar performances by Nileny Dipton, Ernesto Báez, Alejandro Moss and Wilson Ureña, who are part of the acting corps of the CNT, accompanied by Vadir Gonzalez, at the piano.
The work was on tour in the USA in 2019, visiting New York, Washington and Boston, with great success from the public and critics. It was also selected at the 2019 National Theater Festival.
“Memories of April”, son Portraits of a war, memories of the war of April 1965, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, when Creole patriots opposed the invading North American forces. Four monologues to the sound of the piano, woven together by hymns, emblematic songs of the context and of the time, make up this show. The work tries to remember and make known to young people, this wonderful feat where men and women gave their lives for our country. It is a contribution of Don Iván and the CNT, to the understanding of our history.
Iván García, on his side, said he was very satisfied that the National Theater Company is back on stage with his “Memories”; Above all, under the direction of Fausto Rojas, whom he considered a talented young man, who is doing a great job in that artistic company, and a significant contribution to the Dominican theater.
The staging, which has the technical direction of Nancy Vizcaíno, will have functions open to the public from Friday 23 to Sunday 25. Tickets are available at the theater box office.scenetheater
