The Directorate of Public Relations at the National Social Security Fund issued a statement announcing, “It seems that the recent decisions taken by the Director General of the National Social Security Fund, Muhammad Karaki, in terms of doubling medical and hospital tariffs 10 times, as well as doctors’ visits outside the hospital 20 times, and making sure to cover the treatment of dialysis patients 100%, resonated with proud souls and medical authorities with a clear conscience.

The management of the Lebanon Diagnostic Center “LDC” received Dr. Karaki’s initiative positively, and in turn took a valuable and humanitarian initiative towards the insureds in general and the fund’s users in particular, as follows:

● A 50% discount on the bill value for actual and retired fund users and their families.

● 25% discount for all insured persons with the fund.

This discount includes all laboratory and radiological work.

● As for radiography (CT Scan and MRI), these percentages of deductions are applied to the remaining amounts after insurance coverage if the patient obtains prior approval from him.

In this context, Dr. Karaki thanks the custodians of this center and calls on all medical and hospital service providers to take similar humanitarian steps and initiatives.

Medical gathering

In a related context, the head of the Lebanese Medical Social Association, representative of the International Euro-Middle Eastern Medical Association in Lebanon, Professor Raef Reda, praised the position of the Fund’s Director General regarding increasing doctors’ visits 20 times within the available capabilities.

Northern unions

In a statement, the head of the Federation of Workers and Employees Syndicates in the North, Captain Shadi Al-Sayed, thanked the Director General of Social Security, Dr. Muhammad Karaki, for “issuing decisions to amend the doctors’ tariff in social security.” In the manner of “Kale Min Ido Alo”, the syndicate hardly issues a specific tariff for the fees for the specialized private medicine or even for the public health doctor, so that the doctors rush to double these amounts and these fees or this announced tariff.

Al-Sayyid mentioned the doctors’ syndicates in Beirut and Tripoli, “The vast majority of people who resort to doctors are from the poor class, and we can no longer say that they are middle class, unfortunately, i.e. the class of employees who earn between forty and two hundred and forty dollars per month.
