National Security Advisor to the US Vice President visits Guatemala and El Salvador

Philip Gordon, National Security Advisor to the Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harriswill carry out an official visit to Guatemala and El Salvador between this Monday and Tuesday, according to a diplomatic source.

Gordon will be accompanied by a delegation of high-level US officials. Among these is the deputy administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Isobel Coleman. This was reported by the United States Embassy in El Salvador in a statement shared with the press.

The US delegation will meet with government officials, private sector leaders and members of civil society. This to address issues related to bilateral cooperation.

“They will highlight the importance of strengthening democracy, the rule of law and good governance to promote prosperity in the region,” the official information indicated.

Likewise, they will discuss the work carried out within the framework of the Central America Adelante project. This is a public-private alliance that has generated more than $4.2 trillion in private sector investment, thanks to the leadership of the vice president.

Under this strategy, according to the source, the North American nation provided more than one trillion dollars in fiscal year 2022. This includes almost 800 million dollars in economic assistance, development and security.
