[철도파업 <사진=연합뉴스> ] As the National Railroad Workers’ Union strike continues for three days, inconvenience to citizens is expected as train operation rates remain at 79% of the usual level even on weekends.
As of 9 a.m. today (16th), the nationwide train operation rate was calculated to be 79.2% of usual.
The operation rate of each train fell to 76.5% for KTX, 83.8% for metropolitan subway, and 34.6% for freight trains.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced that it is operating trains flexibly depending on the congestion situation, rather than concentrating trains on the weekend rush hour and tomorrow.
Korea Railroad Corporation will also temporarily operate 7 KTX trains today and 6 trains tomorrow (17th), for a total of 13 additional trains over the weekend.
The railroad union has gone on a temporary general strike for four days from the day before yesterday (14th) to 9 a.m. the day after tomorrow (18th).
The union plans to hold a general strike victory resolution rally near the intersection of Namyeong Station at 2 p.m. today (16th) with about 6,000 union members participating.
The railroad union is demanding that the Busan-Seoul KTX terminal station, which was increased on the 1st, be changed to Suseo Station, integrated train operation of KTX and SRT high-speed vehicles, connecting operation of KTX and SRT, and full implementation of 4 groups and 2 shifts.
