Lima.- Peru is not free from disasters, for this reason, ADRA PERU, the Adventist Agency for Development and Assistance Resources, launched as every year the National Public Collection of Aid for disasters and solidarity actions “AUXILIATÓN”, the only collection in our country that allocates its funds to provide humanitarian aid in disasters, support people affected by the crisis and train volunteers for emergency response.
Since 1912, the collection is a practice of the philosophical framework of the Adventist Church, who are promoters of ADRA PERU. However, since 2006 a more specific purpose was established to provide help in emergencies or disasters, solidarity actions and strengthen volunteering.
This year the main objective is to be able to raise 1 million soles to continue helping vulnerable families, and/or those affected by disasters. The campaign will be presented on July 7 and the solidarity collection will be throughout the month of August, with August 20 as the central collection day at the national level through the solidarity piggy bank.
ADRA PERU, through AUXILIATÓN, seeks to be prepared to attend to the population in an emergency when a disaster occurs, such as earthquakes, mudslides, floods, landslides, among others. In the event that no emergency occurs during the year, they carry out solidarity actions by delivering food, kitchen, and shelter kits, depending on the need of the impact zone in the country.
Among the humanitarian campaigns in which they have participated are: Sheltering families in Chilca, Emergency care for earthquakes in Amazonas, Your cause is my cause in Cusco, among others.
Likewise, they have a Mobile Humanitarian Aid Unit, a semi-trailer equipped to provide aid in the event of disasters and in solidarity actions, which is operated by specialists, and is equipped with a water purifier, an electric power generator , a self-sustaining renewable energy system powered by solar panels, an industrial kitchen, and a situation room.
