National Police Uncover International Love Scamming Network with Hundreds of Victims

The National Police have just uncovered a fraudulent fraud syndicate love scamming international network, with hundreds of victims. The National Police appealed to the public to be aware of this mode of crime.

“After seeing this disclosure, of course (appealing to the public, ed) not to provide or open access to identity, photos, related to personal identity data on social media,” appealed Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko in a press conference at Bareskrim Polri, South Jakarta, Friday (19/1/2024).

He asked people to be more careful when interacting with strangers they know on social media. He asked the public to really recognize who he was interacting with.

“Truly study who interacts on social media,” said Trunoyudho.

This attitude is needed, continued Trunoyudho, so that people are not easily fooled by the perpetrator’s persuasions love scamming. “And then don’t be fooled, and especially if you hand over objects or things, material or financial, to people we don’t really know,” he said.

The Director of General Crimes at Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Djuhandhani Rahardjo Puro, said that the perpetrators carried out their actions on a number of dating applications such as Tinder, Bumble, Okcupid and Tantan. “They pretend to be looking for a partner, after finding the victim, the perpetrators ask for a number cell phone so they then communicate about romance or send sexy photos to convince the victim,” said Djuhandani in a press conference at the Police Criminal Investigation Unit, South Jakarta, Friday afternoon.
