The man’s name is Serhi Batryn, says local news website Zakarpattya 24. He served as a deputy on the Keretsky village council and is a member of Sluha Narodu (Servant of the People), President Zelensky’s party.

Before throwing the grenades, Batryn is said to have argued with his fellow councilors about an increased allowance for the head of the village council. Footage shows him walking in, taking the grenades from his pocket, removing the pins and throwing two into the room which then explode.

A search was conducted at the man’s home. A note was found showing that he was preparing the attack. It was initially reported that the suspect had died, but police later reported that he had been resuscitated. According to Zakarpattya 24, the man is seriously injured in hospital.
