The national protest is the next in a series of protests that started on July 5, 2017, and the main demands of the SFSMVR are for an increase in the basic remuneration of employees in the department by a minimum of 15%, tying the basic remuneration to a socially measurable indicator and the drafting of a new law with the participation of trade union organizations.
The Trade Union Federation of the Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (SFSMVR) is the largest police trade union organization in the country. It was founded in February 2009, immediately after the spontaneous police protests of the end of 2008. At the moment, over 8,500 employees of the Ministry of the Interior are members of the SFSMVR – both civil servants and persons working under employment law, employed in all areas of activity of the Ministry of the Interior.
The main objective of the SFSMVR is to defend and protect the main socio-economic and labor interests and rights of its members in the field of labor, employment, labor and service relations, social and health insurance, safety, assistance, ensuring a high standard of living and professional implementation in compliance with the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria, the current national and European legislation, the conventions of the International Labor Organization and other international agreements to which the Republic of Bulgaria is a party, as well as the provisions of the Statute of the SFSMVR.
SFSMVR declares itself decisively against corruption, the lack of social dialogue and the lack of interest in the state of the internal security system in the country.
