NNA – Prime Minister Najib Mikati met in his residence in Riyadh with the President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping, during the Arab-Chinese summit hosted yesterday by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The meeting was attended by: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Abdullah Bou Habib, Minister of Finance Youssef Al-Khalil, Minister of Industry George Boushkian, Advisor to the President Mikati and former Minister Nicolas Nahas, the Ambassador of Lebanon to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Fawzi Kabbara and Melia Jabbour, Ambassador of Lebanon to the People’s Republic of China.
During the meeting, the President of China said that his country “appreciates Lebanon’s positive contribution to strengthening cooperation between Arab countries and China”. He added, “China is interested in developing cooperation with Lebanon in the economic and social fields, and continues to support Lebanon with whatever it needs, especially in this period in the field of renewable energy.
In turn, President Mikati thanked China for its “effective contribution over the years to the protection of stability in southern Lebanon through its active participation in UNIFIL forces” and said: “Lebanon looks forward to more Chinese investment in Lebanon, especially in the field of infrastructure, in which China has extensive experience.” “.
Mikati wished “the opening of Chinese markets to Lebanese handicraft products” and thanked China for “the gift of financing the construction of the national Conservatory”.
