The national production of liquid hydrocarbons, which adds up to that carried out by Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) and private companies, was one million 822 thousand barrels per day in September, a figure that showed a drop of 6.17 percent compared to the same period in 2023, the Commission reported. National Hydrocarbons (CNH).
According to the information released by the autonomous organization, the extraction of crude oil plus condensate remained above 1.8 million barrels each day for nine consecutive months, so until the end of the last six-year period the goal of the 2 million.
The figure for September of this year was lower than the average of one million 942 thousand barrels for the same period in 2023.
The lower dynamism observed in this activity is explained by a reduction in Pemex extraction. The state company averaged one million 713 thousand barrels per day in the reference period, which translated into a drop of 6.77 percent.
Despite the above, the Mexican State oil company continues to be the one that contributes the most in production, since private companies only extracted 5.98 percent, while 94.2 corresponded to Pemex.
Private companies produced an average of 109 thousand barrels per day in the ninth month, a figure that represented an increase of 4.10 percent.
In its monthly variation, the national production of liquid hydrocarbons only decreased 0.72 percent, that of Pemex 1.17 percent and that of private companies advanced 6.96 percent.
If only crude oil is counted, national production, which includes Pemex and private firms, was 1,560,000 barrels per day in the reference period, which translated into a drop of 6.26 percent compared to September 2023.
With the previous result, it added eight consecutive periods with an extraction of less than 1.6 million barrels each day.
In the reference period, Pemex produced one million 451 thousand barrels per day, a figure that represented a decline of 7.01 percent compared to the ninth month of last year.
In its monthly variation, national production contracted 0.59 percent, that of the state oil company 1.17 percent and that of private companies advanced 4.11 percent.
