National Government Confirms Increase in Gasoline Prices for June 2023

The National Government confirmed the increase in the price of a gallon of regular gasoline for June, which will finally be $600, with which the average for the 13 main cities will be $12,364.

So far in 2023, gasoline prices have grown $2,111, going from $10,253 on average in January to $12,364 for June. From the executive they explained that this increase seeks to reduce the fiscal impact of the dynamics of international prices of refined products, compared to which prices in Colombia present a significant gap.

He also highlighted that, including this adjustment, Colombia continues to have one of the cheapest gasoline and diesel prices in Latin America, due to the operation of the Fuel Price Stabilization Fund (FEPC), which has mitigated inflationary pressure. of the increases in the prices of oil and its derivatives in recent months.

The Government explained that the fund’s deficit in 2022 reached $36.7 trillion, of which the previous government paid $6.4 trillion and the new administration, in December, paid $4 trillion, for which $23.3 are still owed trillions.

“In the case of not having had the operation of the FEPC, so far in 2023, the price of regular motor gasoline would have been, on average, more than $4,200 above the current average sale price per gallon and in diesel in more than $8,100”, said the Government.

For its part, the average retail price of ACPM nationwide remains at $9,065 per gallon, honoring the word of President Gustavo Petro, who agreed with the carriers that the increases would remain stable until June 2023.
