“This is the most catastrophic return to school since Independence due to arbitrary and impromptu decisions and also mismanagement. This has generated shortages that persist to this day,” the union said harshly. “In this exceptional situation, the ministry says the start of the new school year went smoothly and has organized a conference to prepare for the next one in an attempt to cover up its failure to improve teaching conditions and take care of workers’ concerns in the sector”, he added. He refers to the need to intervene urgently to solve the problems of the beginning of the school year, in particular those related to supervision.
With regard to the special statute, this trade union organization denounces the “delay” policy adopted by the ministry for drafting the new special statute, and this, the day after the meeting with all the social partners dedicated to the presentation of the Commission’s conclusions and the proposals adopted for the revision of the special status of specific education bodies.
Like all public administration unions, Satef claims the right to a pension without any age limit.
It also asks to satisfy its claim regarding the improvement of purchasing power, particularly in the current situation of erosion of purchasing power and rising prices of consumer products. The union calls for the index point value, currently 45 DA, to be raised to 120 DA, as well as the review of bonuses and allowances. The Boualem Amoura union formation also asks to increase the cost of meals served to students currently set at 65 DA for the wilayas of the North and 75 DA for the wilayas of the South and the Hauts-Plateaux in the three cycles and to increase the school’s operating budget .
As regards the primary education cycle, the union supported the liberation of schools from the management of the Municipal People’s Assemblies (APC) and the drafting of a law criminalizing attacks against education personnel. The union calls on its members to unite their ranks to defend their claims, especially those relating to the improvement of teaching conditions.
