National days of patriotic commitment: the Hauts Bassins ring out the mobilization at the Accart-ville mixed high school

A raising of colors ceremony took place at the Accart-ville Mixed High School in Bobo-Dioulasso, this Tuesday, March 26, 2024. It is on the occasion of the National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation decreed by the government of the transition.

Since November 2023, the Burkinabè government has adopted the National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation. These days will be celebrated on October 26 and 2 each year for 15 days. They aim to promote the values of civic-mindedness, tolerance, patriotism, courage, respect and solidarity. It is in this dynamic that the Hauts-Bassins region, through this color ceremony, celebrated the first edition of these days. On this occasion, the governor of the Hauts-Bassins region, Mariama Konaté/Gnanou delivered the message from the head of state Ibrahim Traoré which he addressed to the people on the night of March 25, 2024. In this speech, he explained the reasons which led the government to establish these days: “The dates chosen for these days were not made for nothing. It is to pay tribute to the father of the Revolution, Captain Thomas Sankara. We still remember March 26, 1983, when Thomas Sankara, then Prime Minister of Upper Volta, gave the speech where he asked the question: where are the enemies of the people? and later, on October 2, 1983, he delivered the political orientation speech. Still in his speech, the President of Faso launched an appeal to all citizens. “I invite every Burkinabè to take simple actions such as planting a tree for every happy event; contribute to the peace effort; sign up as a VDP; conscientiously carry out their duties as a public official; protect and respect public property; pay your taxes; respect the highway code and consume local dishes and products,” declared the Head of State.
The Minister of Urban Planning, Land Affairs and Housing, Mikaïlou Sidibé took part in the ceremony alongside the regional authorities of Hauts-Bassins. He invited the populations to promote these Days in order to strengthen the patriotic fiber and living together.
