National Day Ceremony in Eure-et-Loir: Police Officers, Firefighters, and SNU Volunteers

Police officers, gendarmes, firefighters and young volunteers of the Universal National Service (SNU). Many of them represented the department, this Friday, July 14, on the occasion of the traditional National Day ceremony, followed by the Republican parade.

On the Place des Épars and despite a blazing sun, the official ceremony took place in the presence of the prefect of Eure-et-Loir, Françoise Souliman, as well as many elected officials, including the deputies Guillaume Kasbarian or Luc Lamirault.

At the end of the ceremony, during which decorations were awarded, before the reading of an extract from Ernest Renan’s famous conference, “What is a nation”, given by two young volunteers from the SNU, the crowd gradually gathered around Boulevard Maurice-Viollette to watch the Republican parade.

The City of Chartres returned to tradition last year by organizing its first parade since the 1980s.
