Basic child security would end child poverty in Austria.

Volkshilfe welcomes the fact that a further part of the promised measures to support certain groups of families affected by poverty are now to be decided in the National Council. In doing so, they are fulfilling further parts of their promises.
“We have to keep in mind that this package, which was decided by the National Council, will neither end child poverty nor combat inflation
“, emphasizes Erich Fenninger, Director of Volkshilfe Austria.
Erich Fenninger, who is currently cycling on the “353km Tour de Chance” from Vienna to Carinthia to point out 353,000 children affected by poverty, refers to the expertise of Volkshilfe in fighting poverty: “We know from our research that families affected by poverty are particularly affected by inflation Have challenges in the areas of housing, energy and food. The temporary two euros a day currently granted by the federal government can at best plug holes. The fact is that a single mother is burdened with around 180 euros a month due to the current price increases “.

The rental price brake is also urgently needed, the next increases are imminent, warns Volkshilfe.
Combating child poverty through basic child security
