More than 300 specialists in infectious-contagious diseases are participating, these days, in Timișoara, at the National Conference of Infectious Diseases.
Dr. Victor Babeș Infectious Diseases and Pneumophisiology Hospital is the scientific organizer of the Timișoara 2023 National Infectious Diseases Conference.
“We are at an anniversary edition, the 20th, which is held in Timișoara. As always, colleagues from all infectious disease hospitals in the country are coming. They are joined by dozens of resident doctors, as well as students interested in learning the latest in this field. Most of us have experienced, at least once, a contagious disease, from chicken pox or measles to the flu. The Covid pandemic also showed how important this branch of medicine really is. The infectious disease specialist is the one who not only deals with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases in the infectious sphere, but tries to determine the mechanism of development of various pathogens and the way in which the diseases produced by them manifest themselves.”, said doctor Voichița Lăzureanu, president of the National Conference of Infectious Diseases.
Among the topics that will be addressed during the National Conference in Timișoara are: current antiretroviral therapy and the quality of life of patients with HIV/AIDS infection, modern management in acute and chronic hepatitis, systemic infections, vaccination prevention, but also therapeutic innovations in diseases infectious.
“The medicine of infectious-contagious diseases evolves from one year to the next. New therapies, new drugs, new molecules appear that change, sometimes radically, the medical approach. Staying stuck in the old procedures, not learning the latest news in the field means, in fact, losing the fight against some diseases that can, at some point, turn into epidemics or even pandemics. Such an event gives us the opportunity to share with our colleagues our experience, of those who work at the Victor Babeș Hospital in Timișoara, a health facility that was one of the most important bastions of the fight against Covid 19. But, at the same time, it helps us to we also find out the procedures or the way of action of other colleagues in the country, and that’s because this field of infectious diseases is a very vast one. We will also talk about new medical challenges and lay the foundations for new scientific collaboration projects.”, Voichița Lăzureanu also said.
HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, central nervous system infections, eruptive diseases, gastro-enterocolitis, swine or bird flu, COVID 19 or monkey pox are just some of the infectious diseases that, in the last 30 years, have led to the death of millions people. Statistics show that, in the same period, several dozen new diseases appeared, for which there is still no specific treatment.
