“National Competition Showcases Talents of 42 Young Musicians”

The participants from the Freiburg region were successful in the state competition “Jugend musiziert”. Some of them will soon travel to Zwickau and show their talent there again.

1650 participants from Baden-Württemberg had qualified for this year’s state competition “Jugend musiziert”. It’s not just the quantity that’s impressive. Thomas Oertel, regional and deputy state chairman of the “Jugend musiziert” competitions, said the quality was also shown by the many prizes and forwardings to the national competition, which takes place over Pentecost in Zwickau, Saxony. Participants from Freiburg and the districts of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald and Emmendingen were also successful.

Of the 93 young musicians, 53 received a first prize, with 42 qualifying for the national competition. According to Oertel, 40 participants took second place.

They impressed in the solo categories piano, harp, voice and drum set and in the ensemble categories for chamber music for string, wind and mixed instruments and new music. Venues this year were the two cities of Künzelsau and Waldstetten. “This is another great increase compared to the comparable competition in 2017 and exceeds all expectations,” says Thomas Oertel about this result.

The results of the participants from the region of Freiburg, Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald and Emmendingen are on the Internet under the link to see.
