National coach Koeman admitted to hospital with heart problems NOW

Ronald Koeman was admitted to the Academic Medical Center (AMC) on Sunday. The 57-year-old national team coach of the Dutch national team is struggling with heart problems, but he is stable and he is doing well under circumstances.

The management of Koeman reports that the former top footballer has successfully undergone a cardiac catheterization and that he can return home on Monday. He was rushed to the hospital because of chest complaints.

Koeman has been the national coach of Orange since February 2018. He led the Dutch national team to the 2020 European Championship, but that tournament has been moved to the summer of 2021 due to the corona crisis. Last year, he and his team reached the final of the Nations League, in which Portugal was too strong.

It is still unclear when the next Orange game will be played. All international matches have been suspended for the time being due to the COVID-19 virus.

Koeman, who has a contract with the KNVB up to and including the 2022 World Cup, was in the past player and trainer of Ajax, PSV and Feyenoord. He achieved his greatest successes as a player with FC Barcelona.

The born Zaandammer was also head coach at Vitesse, Benfica, Valencia, AZ, Southampton and Everton.
