For the 9th time in the history of the Women’s Eredivisie, FC Twente Women has won the national championship. On behalf of the municipal council of Enschede, mayor Roelof Bleker congratulated the FC Twente Women on winning the national title on Saturday evening. The municipal council of Enschede invites FC Twente Vrouwen to a festive welcome at the Enschede City Hall on Tuesday afternoon, May 21.
“We are immensely proud of this leading team in women’s football, which is also the main supplier of the Dutch national team on several occasions,” says Mayor Roelof Bleker. “The football players and staff of FC Twente Women have not only been performing at the top of their game for years, they have given an enormous boost to women’s football in the Netherlands and Europe.” Sports councilor Niels van den Berg, who attended the last home match in De Grolsch Veste today, is also proud: “This 9th national title is a recognition of the hard work of this top team led by trainer Joran Pot.”
Nice Twente party
In collaboration with the club, the municipality of Enschede offers the national champion of the Women’s Eredivisie a festive welcome at the City Hall. Mayor Roelof Bleker: “Enschede is the cradle of women’s football. Anyone who cares about the FC Twente Women is welcome at Enschede City Hall on Tuesday afternoon, May 21, from 4:30 PM. We’ll make it a great Twente party.”
Eredivisie Cup next week
FC Twente Women played the last match of the Women’s Eredvisie in De Grolsch Veste against Telstar on Saturday afternoon, May 11. Next week, the football players of FC Twente will compete for the Eredivisie Cup, an extra prize that the national champion can also achieve.
