National Basketball League will celebrate its 40th edition with the 2023/24 season, which will start on Tuesday, October 3with a total of 38 regular phase games and the first round that will be played until the end of January (19 games per team).
The opening match will be with the crossing between Third (last champion) vs. Zarate (recently promoted from La Liga Argentina), to be played at the Ciudad de Santiago del Estero stadium.
The schedule is adapted to a sports calendar that will be affected by the pre-qualifying windows for the AmeriCup, the presidential elections, the Pan American Games and international tournaments (BCLA and Liga Sudamericana).
In the first part of the year, the tournament schedule will have a stoppage on October 22 due to the presidential elections. Additionally, there will be a partial pause during the Pan American Games. This phase is scheduled to be completed at the end of May.
The match schedule until the elections will be distributed over 21 days (from 10/3 to 10/21) with 19 days of games and 2 days without action (October 14 and 16), due to the South American League in which Oberá, Instituto and Gimnasia participate.
An important point will be that, prior to the recess and just as happened the previous year, the Super League Cup, which will be played by Quimsa de Santiago del Estero (champion of the 2022/23 season) and Gimnasia y Esgrima de Comodoro Rivadavia (champion of the Super 20 Cup). The event will be held on December 20 at a neutral venue.
After concluding the first phase, the best classified in the table will play the Super 20 Cup.

On April 26, 1985, the first season of the National Basketball League got its start, in a tournament that would end up crowning the legendary Ferro Carril Oeste as the first great champion.
To celebrate this 40th anniversary, the tournament will have renewed its institutional image with the color gold as the protagonist, which will accompany the celebrations and memories that will take place during the competition.
