When it comes to cost-of-living adjustments, the federal parliament acts as a bank on its own behalf.
A National Council costs the taxpayer just under 150,000 francs, a Council of States 174,000. Not everything flows into the purse of the parliamentarians. But at least anyone who racks their brains for the good of the country in Bern can count on the following benefits:
