The National Action Party (PAN) has filed a complaint with the State Human Rights Commission against the State Secretary of Education, Sofíaleticia Morales Garza, according to the PAN leader in Monterrey, Policarpo Flores.
According to the PAN leader, the State was complicit in the distribution of textbooks.
“What we present today before the CEDH is a complaint against the head of the Secretary of Education in the State, Sofialeticia Morales Garza, since she allowed free textbooks for this school year to be distributed among the Nuevo Leon students.
“In the same way, we ask the autonomous body to rule on this measure, which is clearly an act that threatens the education of our children,” explained Flores.
Despite the opposition of several parent organizations, with the start of the 2023-2024 school year, the new free textbooks began to be distributed in schools in Nuevo León and will continue to gradually reach students, although not teachers.
The union leaders of sections 50 and 21, Juan José Gutiérrez and José Francisco Martínez, respectively, agreed that teachers do not need the “recipe book” to teach classes, but they hope that the legal conflicts will be resolved and that the State will finally I handed them over.
This is due to the fact that previously, the state government chose to deliver the textbooks to the students, but did not provide the guide book to the teachers, arguing the presence of a greater ideological content in the latter.
