Federal Statistical Office
Neuchâtel, August 27, 2024 – Switzerland’s gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 0.7% in 2023 at previous year’s prices, meaning it grew more slowly than in 2022 (+3.0%). The reason for this slowdown is the normalization of the economic situation after the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition, the difficult international situation weighed on foreign demand. Gross national income (GNI) at current prices increased by 1.2% due to a slight decline in the income balance with foreign countries. In addition to these first estimates for 2023, the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) is presenting the revised GDP growth for 2021 and 2022 at previous year’s prices. It was increased from 5.4% to 5.6% and from 2.6% to 3.0%, respectively.
